What happens if you mix together the movies Midnight Madness, Brewster's Millions, and Weekend at Bernie's? Based on the novel, The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth, Lucky Stiff is an offbeat, hilarious murder mystery farce, complete with mistaken identities, six million bucks in diamonds, and a corpse in a wheelchair.

Harry Witherspoon, an unassuming English shoe salesman, stands to inherit $6,000,000 from an American uncle he didn't even know he had. However, in order to claim the cash Harry must take his uncle on one last whirlwind vacation to Monte Carlo. The catch – his uncle is already dead! So, Harry must escort the embalmed body through a belated "bucket list" of activities. If he fails, the money will go to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn…though his uncle's gun-toting ex-girlfriend has other ideas!

Lucky Stiff premiered Off-Broadway at Playwrights Horizons in 1988 and in London's West End in 1997. It is the first musical by the Tony Award-winning team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty who subsequently wrote Once on This Island, My Favorite Year, Seussical, Ragtime, Rocky, and Anastasia. A winner of both the Richard Rodgers Award and Washington DC's Helen Hayes Award for Best Musical, Lucky Stiff is now performed frequently across the country.

Lucky Stiff is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
