Caldwell-West Caldwell School District -- School Closing Information
In the event of inclement weather, the decision may be made to close school or delay school opening for 90 minutes. This decision is made by the Superintendent of Schools in consultation with the Caldwell and West Caldwell Police. In the event of a closing or a delayed opening, TV 35 and 36 will broadcast a special message. The fire sirens in both town will sound at 6:30am to signify that schools are closed. All school phone chains will be activated. Additionally, closing information will be broadcast on the following radio and TV stations:
WNBC TV (Channel 4)
News Channel 12
Fox 5 News
Additionally, residents can log onto the News 12 New Jersey Web Site which lists school closings and delays.
Note: The Caldwell-West Caldwell Schools do not have an early dismissal program for inclement weather. If a parent/guardian wishes to remove their child early from school, they may do so by coming to the main office of the school and signing them out.
Lastly, the School Closing hotline will be updated as soon as possible when a decision is made to delay or close schools. It can be accessed by calling 973-226-1663.
The school calendar has three snow days built in. Any days used in excess of the three may be taken from vacation periods or at the end of the school year.
